When I’m declared dead but bro finds out I was still talking about Infernum Terraria on the way out. At that point there is genuinely no saving me. You could have the whole room telling me to rest and I would still be explaining how the boss fight went, complaining about the difficulty, talking about how one attack somehow hit me from across the screen, and then saying “nah I almost had it” after getting absolutely destroyed for the 47th time. Infernum is the type of Terraria mod where you can spend hours preparing for one boss, make the best gear available, learn every attack, memorize the arena, practice the movement, watch guides, change your accessories, change your weapons, change your strategy, and then the boss does one completely ridiculous attack and sends you straight back to the respawn screen. And somehow you still queue up the fight again. You know you are going to get destroyed. You know the next attempt is probably going to end with you yelling at your monitor. But you still convince yourself that this attempt is different. Then suddenly it is three hours later and you are still fighting the same boss. Infernum Terraria does not care about your confidence. It does not care how good you think you are. It does not care if you have beaten the regular version of the game. The moment you enter an Infernum boss fight, the game basically asks you one question: how badly do you want to win? And the answer is apparently badly enough to keep dying. The funniest part is trying to explain Infernum to someone who has never played it. You start with “it is basically Terraria but harder” and five minutes later you are explaining boss AI, attack patterns, projectiles covering the entire screen, arena setups, accessories, class setups, and why you need another hour preparing before attempting the boss again. At some point you stop playing Terraria and start studying for an exam. Then when someone asks what you are doing, you just say “Terraria.” No. You do not understand. This is not normal Terraria anymore. This is Infernum. And if I am ever declared dead, there is a good chance I was probably explaining some completely unnecessary Terraria boss strategy right before it happened. Infernum players know exactly what I mean. You can be exhausted, have been fighting the same boss all night, and suddenly get the boss down to 5% health. Now you are locked in. You are not sleeping. You are not eating. You are finishing that fight. Then you die. And the first thing you say is “I was lagging.” Every single time. The game is never the problem. The boss is never the problem. The build is never the problem. It was always lag. Even when the death was completely your fault. That is the Infernum experience.
