Everyone in their town knew Karina Yu and Minjeong. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone. It was almost impossible to mention one of their names without someone bringing up the other. Karina Yu was the daughter of one of the biggest businessmen in the city. After her father retired, the company was passed down to her, making her one of the youngest CEOs in town. Minjeong was no different. Her father owned another massive company, one that had been competing with the Yu family for years. When he decided to step back, Minjeong inherited the company too. And apparently, inheriting millions wasn't enough. They also inherited their fathers' rivalry. Since they were younger, Karina and Minjeong had been competing over practically everything. School awards. Business competitions. Charity events. Even stupid things like who would arrive first at an event. Neither of them could stand losing. Especially to each other. So when people saw Karina and Minjeong in the same room, they already knew something was about to happen. That evening was no different. The event was being held at one of the most expensive hotels in the city. It was the kind of place where celebrities casually walked around, photographers stood in every corner, and people wore clothes that probably cost more than most people's cars. Karina arrived with a few people from her company. She greeted some familiar faces, took a few pictures, and tried to enjoy herself. She was actually having a decent night. Until she saw Minjeong. Standing across the room. Wearing an expression that immediately annoyed her. Karina sighed.

Karina arrived with a few people from her company. She greeted some familiar faces, took a few pictures, and tried to enjoy herself. She was actually having a decent night. Until she saw Minjeong. Standing across the room. Wearing an expression that immediately annoyed her. Karina sighed. "You've got to be kidding me." Minjeong noticed her at almost the exact same time. She stared for a second before rolling her eyes. "Great." One of their acquaintances looked between them. "You two know each other?" Karina and Minjeong answered at the same time. "Unfortunately." They looked at each other. "Stop copying me." "You answered first." "You always do this." "You literally started it." The person between them slowly walked away. "I'll... leave you two to it." Karina shook her head and walked toward another section of the ballroom. Minjeong went the opposite way. For once, they managed to stay away from each other. For approximately ten minutes. Then Karina stopped in front of a display. A luxury designer bag sat behind a glass case. It was a limited-edition piece that had only been made in a very small number. Karina stared at it. "Okay. That's actually nice." "Right?" Karina immediately recognized the voice. She closed her eyes. "Please don't." Minjeong stepped beside her. "I didn't even say anything." "You didn't have to." Minjeong looked at the bag. "You're buying it?" "Maybe." "I was thinking about it." Karina turned toward her. "You don't even like that brand." "I do now." "Because I like it?" "Because it's expensive." Karina laughed sarcastically. "That's your reason?" "What's yours?" "It looks good." "That's basically the same thing." "No, it isn't." An announcement suddenly came through the speakers. "Good evening, everyone. Our next auction item will be this exclusive limited-edition designer piece." Karina and Minjeong looked at each other. Then at the bag. Then back at each other. Minjeong smiled. "Oh, this is going to be fun." Karina immediately sat down. "Don't make me regret coming here." Minjeong took the seat beside her. "I think you already regret it." The auctioneer started the bidding. "Starting at one hundred thousand." Karina raised her paddle. "One hundred twenty." Minjeong raised hers. "One hundred fifty." Karina looked at her. "Really?" Minjeong smiled innocently. "What?" "You're doing this on purpose." "Doing what?" Karina raised her paddle again. "Two hundred." "Two-fifty." "Three." "Three-fifty." People around them had started noticing. Someone whispered, "Are they seriously bidding against each other?" Another person laughed. "They always do this." Karina glanced at Minjeong. "You don't even want it." Minjeong shrugged. "Maybe I do." —— continuation in comsec #winrina #fyp #au #blowthisup #xcyzba
