i’ve been to 8 different residential facilities, jail & psyche wards… i completely agree. and honestly… the residential facilities in california are some of my best memories of my entire adult life. something very special about comradery and connection to likeminded people who come from so many different backgrounds.

YES this is huge. being able to coexist and in my opinion, LEARN from people who come from a different walk of life, have gone through different experiences, have different beliefs, etc. just listening to others opens your world up immensely. especially being in an institution, whether everyone agrees with each other or not, there still is a sense of comminuty because everyone is working towards a similar goal and you eventually realize that it is about easier to do it and go through it with other people rather than yourself.
