Targaryens screwed themselves not thinking about the repercussions of the dance. Not thinking further down the line. Because in hindsight, it didn't matter who was on the throne, they just needed to keep birthing babies and hatching dragons. Daenarys would have still came through the bloodline no matter what. Their descendants should be riding the hatchlings and juveniles from HOTD. They caused the madness and obsession in their family by being greedy over a chair and using the dragons as weapons as opposed to an extension of themselves.
