I haven’t been diagnosed yet, but I know it’s happening. More and more being forgetful. It’s scary.

my dad was in the hospital with a dementia-UTI .. told me he spent a few days working at a hospital in Fiji with Tim Allen, on a boat, and then they saw sharks... just smile and wave told him sounded like a fun trip! (hes retired 35+ year dialysis nurse)

It becomes abuse if you keep nagging them to correct themselves. Stop. Meet them where they are and guide from there. Gently with grace.

My grandma would ask about my grandpa passing and I would tell her he was up north fishing and then change the subject real quick. My grandma kept saying she wanted to go home and did not recognize the house she was in the past 45 years. I know she was picturing her childhood home.

Even if they make stuff up , fully believe it and accuse others of truly awful things

I use to take care of a woman who would tell me every night that her mom didn't know where she was. I would tell her we already spoke and she said you can stay here tonight and she loves you and knows you are safe. then I would sing her a song as tucked her into bed.

My sister is showing signs of dimentia but when I make her find the answer to a question, she often finds the answer and appreciates me testing her. She is still in the middle of testing , just did blood work

I had to do that when my mom got dementia. I had to.put her in a home. One day I took her to lunch. She started telling me to take her back to work because she did not want to be late. I told her I would make sure she got back in time. It was so hard to see her like that because she had been a strong, hardworking woman. She is gone now. It comforts me because I believe she is in a better place. This disease is a horrible thing.

my mom forgot who I was presently. she only remembered me from when I was skinny. she would ask me "where's Brenda" and I would say it's me and she said "Brenda is not fat".

I was a private caregiver for the elderly over 20+yrs. You need to go into "their" world. It's sad....

What can I do about losing patience? Is there any trick? Normally im a pretty relaxed person but I sometimes have to repeat myself 6 times in ten mins and I’m not always very good about hiding my frustration.

No, you don’t correct them. You go along with them. How can you correct somebody that doesn’t understand.
