It might seem like a convenient, hormone-free option but if your cycle lenght varies more than 4–5 days from month to month, it could be giving you a false sense of security. A HUGE misconception is that apps like Natural Cycles are “just as effective” as learning to chart your own cycle. They’re not. They’re algorithm-based trackers that guess your fertile window based on previous cycles not current, real-time signs from your body (like early cervical mucus that indicates ovulation might be approaching sooner than expected) And if your cycle isn’t super regular, that guesswork gets risky fast (It gave me “infertile” days when I was already very fertile 🙃) Here’s what actually happens when you rely on an app like Natural Cycles: - It gives you “safe” days based on past data… even though ovulation hasn’t happened yet and while this can help to get an idea of your fertile window, it is not a given that you ovulate every month around the same time. - You will be caught offguard if your body decides to ovulate earlier (or later!) than usual - You start to question your body instead of the tech - While the app does use BBT to help confirm ovulation, it sometimes can’t even confirm ovulation correctly (see my next video, where I break down 4 charts that I just came across yesterday that are very problematic) The truth is, if you want to prevent pregnancy naturally, you need to track what’s actually happening, not what your app thinks will happen. That means learning how to interpret your cervical mucus and confirm ovulation through basal body temperature (the right way 😉) And yes, if your cycles are super regular, Natural Cycles might work. But at that point… why pay so much for it? You could just chart your temps yourself, save your money, and gain way more confidence in understanding your own body. I do have a resource where I teach you how to confirm ovulation on your own. If you’d like it comment “OVULATION” and I’ll send it to you.
