Dangme Festival Season: Ningo Djange Domi Festival 2026 Today marks the beginning of the Djange Domi Festival in New Ningo as the people commence the sacred “Na Nu Mi” ritual. During this important rite, a live cow is ceremonially paraded through parts of the community by the Djange Warrior, accompanied by traditional priests, priestesses, and devotees, before being led to the Djange Shrine. This sacred procession signifies the formal opening of the festival and serves as an invitation to the deities and ancestors to bless the land and its people. On the following day, the cow is ritually sacrificed at the shrine as an offering to the gods. Together with a series of sacred rites performed over the following days, the sacrifice is intended to purify the land, seek divine protection, promote peace, and invoke prosperity for the community. These rituals continue throughout the week, culminating on Friday, after which the public celebrations of Djange Domi begin with traditional drumming, dancing, processions, cultural performances, and communal festivities. The Djange Domi Festival is one of the most significant traditional festivals of the Dangme people. It reflects their rich spiritual heritage, deep reverence for their ancestors, and enduring commitment to preserving their customs, values, and identity for future generations. May this year’s Djange Domi Festival bring peace, unity, good health, abundant harvests, and prosperity to the people of New Ningo and to all Dangme communities. Follow the Dangme page for comprehensive coverage of the 2026 Dangme festival season, bringing you stories, traditions, and updates from all Dangme traditional areas. #Dangme #DjangeDomi #Ningo #NewNingo #OldNingo
