This is a real letter that President Trump’s aide sent to him. Natalie Harp is now Trump’s executive assistant at the White House and one of his most devoted aides, even within his own inner circle of loyalists. The 35-year-old is a near-ubiquitous presence at Oval Office gatherings, Maga political rallies and on foreign trips, and was one of the chosen few to accompany Trump on his stealth escape from Air Force One on to a Turkish airport catering cart to avoid an alleged Iranian assassination plot. This week Harp has found herself at the centre of a fierce political brawl over her proximity to the president after it was pointed out by Jon Ossoff, the Georgia senator and a rising Democratic star, during a ferocious critique of Trump in a campaign speech that went viral. “He doesn’t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenceless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar,” Ossoff said, referring to the jet sent by Doha for use by the American president.   The comments triggered fury in the White House and the following day Trump lashed out at a CNN reporter for trying to get his reaction to them, while his staffers rushed to Harp’s defence. White House communications director Steven Cheung complained that Ossoff was “denigrating hard-working people serving their country”. But the spotlight on Harp and her relationship with the president is proving hard to dim. She has quickly become a symbol of the excessive sycophancy within Trump’s entourage and his own need for flattery at all times.  Caption from article by James Politi, Financial Times. Natalie Harp letter obtained by The Daily Beast.
