@melissadeps: Here are a few things I noticed were slowing our debt journey down. Are you guilty of any of these? It’s so easy to get caught up in this world where we purchasing anything and everything. Plus we can buy it without even taking out our money/cards at this point. Wild. Hopefully acknowledging some of these habits can help you! #moneysavingtips #payoffdebttrend #financialfreedom #momonabudget #budgetingforbeginners
Do you feel like social media has put us in the overconsumption mindset to a fault?

Walmart pick up has became my best friend when it comes to saving money. I’m not just walking around browsing. Just place my order and then go to the store to get it later.

We cancel all the tv subscriptions in the summer when we are outside and barley home and then get them in the winter when it is to cold to be out and watch what we missed then.

Buying items to store away is fine… but i only do it if it’s on sale. Then i get it. I make a list of “needs” items and then a list of “check the prices of these items “ list bc i will eventually need them but i want to see if its on sale

I don't do Costco or Sam's. We don't need 84 rolls of toilet paper for the regular. Can use the little extra money somewhere else.

I live in the middle of nowhere. It would cost more in gas to have to go get something when I run out than to just get it while I’m already there

I truly think we spend more because we have such quick access to things we don’t actually need. The world of convenience compared to 20 years ago is vastly different.

I'd much rather buy essentials on sale at a lower cost than run out and be forced to pay full price. That makes no sense. You're still buying it either way. I'm not talking stock piling, but buying when things are on sale just makes sense.

I’ve paid off $6k (admittedly this is like my 3rd time going through this severe pay off cycle) in 4 months by giving myself $150 every two weeks. I get my check and every $ besides the $150 is put towards bills so i dont even have the opportunity to spend it on anything besides food/basics. Hoping i can find balance once my cc is paid off this time for long term.

I really disagree on the backup products. If it’s products you know you use always keep an eye out on sales for them. Check out cvs, Walgreens, and dollar general. Occasionally they have sales that make products way cheaper. I have a back stock of toothpaste, sun screen, and cans of tuna for example. Legit anywhere from 50-90% Walmart prices from coupon stacking on their apps. Of course this is only applicable on products you will for sure use. If you don’t eat tuna like I do then saving 90% on tuna you don’t eat is a waste.

backup products... yes! we now buy to run out. if we are out it's okay (of ketchup, not toothpaste). we don't need two of everything at all time.
