I understand the idea behind staying calm and not reacting, but I don’t think it works with every person who behaves narcissistically or abusively. Some people simply don’t back down when you remain calm they see your silence as an opportunity to push further and take advantage of you. I know of a couple where the wife behaves this way. When her husband stopped reacting to her provocations and remained completely calm, instead of backing down, she physically pushed him with her feet. So sometimes it’s not about giving them the reaction they’re looking for. Some people will continue escalating regardless of how calm you are. We shouldn’t romanticize “staying calm” as a universal solution when we’re dealing with someone who is genuinely abusive and has no respect for boundaries. Being calm can protect your peace, but sometimes you also need firm boundaries and consequences.

sy rasa bila dia tgh marah meluap2 tu..sy dah tkda rasa apa2 pun..marah tdk merajuk tdk..sy mcm tuli dah..tgok je muka dia..suara dia tkda masuk dlm telinga sy...bila dia nk abis marah n bertnya apa pun soalan..sy akan jwp ok..entah..terpulang lah ...terus dia masam muka mcm telan 1 botol cuka.. kdg2 sy hairan knp sy tkda rasa apa2..klu dulu smpi nangis2 meraung2 bagai..rendah kn diri sdiri.. please make me understand why skg sy gitu.
