Studying. Completing an assignment. Working online. Speaking to someone. Resting after a difficult day. Or simply finishing something they started. Yes, children should contribute to the household and follow reasonable instructions. But parenting doesn’t mean every request must become an emergency simply because you are the parent. Sometimes ask: “Are you busy?” “When you finish, can you help me with this?” “Can you do this within the next 20 minutes?” You’re also teaching them something important: respect for other people’s time. Your child is a person with responsibilities, priorities and activities of their own.
