Shaq Babake Trevor :
I started understanding my dad when I turned 18. Growing up, there were times my mum would push us as kids to pressure Dad for money and basic needs, saying things like, “Baba yenu ako na pesa, enda umwambie hauna hii na hii.”
But when I became a man and started facing the real world, I began to understand that my dad was actually trying his best. That’s when I started appreciating and favouring my dad more. Whenever I went shopping, I would make sure I bought him a suit, shoes, or something that would make him happy. I wanted my mum to relax for a while too, because I had started seeing things from my dad’s perspective.
I was 18 then. Now I’m 26, and I’m a father myself. Honestly, I now understand how hard it is to be a man, to provide, to carry responsibilities, and still keep going even when things are not easy.
Unfortunately, my dad passed away last year in May. 😥💔
To all men out there: now that you’re a man and you’re starting to see life for what it really is, why not take care of your father while you still can? 🤔
Appreciate him. Buy him something. Take him out. Check on him. Even the smallest things matter.
Because one day, you may understand everything he was going through—but he might no longer be there to hear you say, “Dad, I understand you now.” 🥲❤️
