Two of my co workers recently had deaths in their families. My boss asked them both to call in on meetings on the day they were attending funerals. Both of the coworkers have now turned in their two week notices.

Businesses forget they that they don’t actually own us. We perform work BEFORE we get paid for that work, so technically employees are in a perpetual state of loaning the employer time/effort, with the employer in a perpetual state of being indebted to the employee. Not sure why employees aren’t pushing that fact to the absolute front of any conversation.
