That little gesture made me well up. What grace it takes to know what she did to your grandchildren and still hold compassion for her and appreciate her own fragility. So many things could’ve been done differently and I think the whole family feels the weight of that.

To me she seemed embarrassed. Embarrassed they didn’t notice, embarrassed they didnt help. Embarrassed by how her son has so clearly moved on so soon from his once family. She knows he failed them.
