Lindsey already had anxiety, a woman suffering with anxiety would NEVER let a person she didn’t trust or know well watch her kids. I didn’t let my kids sleep over with MIL for years and I’m very close to my MIL and trust her completely, but my anxiety told me no one could care for them like I can.

MHO, she had anxiety. They had the “my kids don’t spend the night anywhere”, agreement. Lots of people do. and her parents CAME to watch them at HER home. The MIL didn’t want to have to stay at HER home, which is FINE. So she didn’t ever have them overnight. And they RESPECTED each other, it doesn’t mean they were “close”. Lindsey’s definition of CLOSE was what she felt with HER parents.
