Hand painted signs point uptown to Times Square and downtown to Brooklyn. Wool coats, hats, gloves, polished shoes. Nobody in this crowd is dressed for an occasion. They are going to work. The camera caught them for a few seconds on an ordinary morning. No one asked their names, no one wrote anything down, and none of them had any reason to think this moment would outlast them.
