@divergenthood: Burnout is a result of you suppressing your identity in order to gain external safety. When you are disconnected from your body, your mind is easily controlled and become hyperviligent rooting decisions in fear instead of reality. Burnout is systemic. It's generational. It tells us to push past our limits without acknowledging that we have them. Rest is a direct form of resistance. The ability to reclaim your time, your space, and yourself from a system that is designed to extract your productivity for profit. We must begin to come home to ourselves. #neurodivergent #burnout #healing
This is exactly how I feel, oppressed! I’m going to quit my job next year cuz this isn’t sustainable for me.

Preach. I’m convinced there’s no such thing as neurotypical, it’s just the expectation that everyone should operate like the average mediocre white man.

Yes definitely rest and becoming in tune with your needs is key. But the system doesnt allow us to rest. Unless we have a financial support system it is not possible to rest.

“Suppressing your identity in order to gain external safety” just put language to SO much of what I’ve been trying to understand about burnout and unmasking. Because what happens when the version of you that kept you “safe” is also the version that’s slowly exhausting you?
And then you’re expected to heal while still functioning inside the same systems that required the mask in the first place. THIS is the conversation.

Thank you and yes it’s so much deeper that career burnout. And when I use the word burnout from my career I’m talking about this that you’re explaining. And it’s received as I’m not mentally strong enough to handle things others can handle. And I still don’t have the words to really explain that
