@meraparenti: Loan servicers have been giving out wrong information throughout this entire transition. Borrowers have been told their loans are deferred until 2028 — not true. Borrowers have been told they have to wait for the servicer to contact them before switching plans — not true. Borrowers have been told they don’t have options — not true. MOHELA, Nelnet, Aidvantage — these are third party companies contracted to handle billing and paperwork. They are not the Department of Education. They do not set policy. And right now their customer service representatives are working from outdated scripts and giving out information that is actively costing borrowers qualifying PSLF payments. Here is what you need to know. Your loan servicer does not have to give you permission to switch plans. You do not have to wait for their call or their letter. You can go to studentaid.gov right now — which IS the Department of Education — and apply for IBR or RAP today. Studentaid.gov is your source of truth. Not your servicer’s portal. Not their phone line. Not what they told you six months ago. #StudentLoans #studentdebt #save #LearnOnTikTok #loans
we do not need their permission but the 90 day clock doesn't start until the servicer gives you a notice

Cavvv :
After you submit, how long before I hear back? Do I need to recertify to?

If our payments are $0 do they qualify for PSLF? I was told yes, but now I’m wondering…

Depends on the plan. If it’s an IDR then FSA processes those. If it’s an alternate term plan then you can apply on your servicer’s website through your account.
