Wish this was talked about more! I am 5 months post op from my 6th endo surgery (1st one was ablation b4 I knew better). The 5 have been with excision specialists. The more surgeries you have, the longer the recovery. And also being the sickest, weakest I have ever been before this surgery, also plays into how you recovery. This disease is a beast and I feel it will never release its grip on me. I also have MCAS and ehlers danlos, which also plays into recovery

This is me! 😭 I had a 7-hour long endo excision surgery in 2024. It was all over my pelvic area as well as my intestines and appendix and a lesion on my bladder. I needed a bowel surgeon to excise it from my bowels and perform a bowel resection. I also had a hysterectomy during that same surgery because of suspected adenomyosis. My biopsy report came back positive for endometriosis, as well as adenomyosis and fibroid tissue in my uterus. It took me over a year to heal from that surgery, but I’m so glad I did it!!! Currently, my doctors have also found pelvic congestion syndrome 😳. I also highly recommend pelvic floor physical therapy!

Just had my third surgery is all in my pelvic floor ovaries bowels vaginal walls not only all that , in my diaphragm and in my right lung tissue and severe adenomyosis so now stage 4 advanced endo and adeno , after every surgery I have gotten worse I wish I didn’t get any surgery even after 3 excision surgeries

I pop that norethindrone everyday, hate that it’s my only option to relieve symptoms but we gotta do what we gotta do!

I just had my second surgery 5 weeks ago - had what happened to you, my first surgeon didn’t get it all and everything just got worse. I was diagnosed with stage 1 then, and now stage 3. Thank you for highlighting how it can take a long time to fully heal after so much is done during surgery - doctors aren’t highlighting this enough

I wish I did not have to have surgery. I’m 40. Done having kids. But, the bowel endo will close my bowel if I don’t. My uterus is also attached to my colon so I have to have a hysterectomy as well. I so wish I could just ride it out but surgery it is. 😭

It has taken me about 4.5 months to start having less pain from the surgery itself.

Thanks for talking about this ❤️my first surgery was with a non specialist then a couple months later it was done by a specialist (so 2 surgeries within a few months from each other). My recovery was rough with both. I’m 4 months post op from my second surgery and still have pretty bad pelvic pain and nerve pain.

I didn’t know, it’s been 5 months since my 2nd surgery. I fear I still have a long way to go 🫩 my left leg is so weak now from the scar tissue from being cut out of the ligament. DIE is no joke.

My surgeon told me it was fucking anxiety and I shouldn’t be in pain and had the audacity to ask me if I had taken my anxiety medicine….

I had excision surgery with a specialist and a hysterectomy bc adenomyosis was equally terrible. It was a 6 hour surgery my op notes talked about how it warped my anatomy my right ovary cervix and rectum we’re fused together (it took morphine after bm pre surgery to help with pain-it was BAD). It took prob 3 months to feel normal and I started pelvic floor PT 2x a week then slowly got down to once a week. I get nerve blocks for my pudendal nerve and pelvic floor Botox too. It’s taken work on this side of healing but the quality of life is amazing. Use to it hurt to sit. It hurt to fly. It hurt to drive. I struggled to eat. I slept poorly bc of pain. Now I sleep well. I can eat a full meal. I can go to the bathroom and feel BETTER after. But yes it takes time. And for me retraining my brain to not just associate pain with my pelvis. It wasn’t an easy recovery but I’d do it again in a heart beat. 💛
