@abbiratcliffe: I’m taking away the ONE thing that gives me 20 minutes of fucking peace 😭😂 But after nights of Mason still being awake when the sun comes up, something HAS to change. We’re starting from scratch clean room, shower, tomorrow no screens after 7pm and the same bedtime routine every night. Will this finally fix his sleep… or will I regret this by 7:01pm? 🙃 Wish me fucking luck. 😂 #AutismParenting #AutismMum #SENParent #AutismSleep #RealLifeParenting
giving a child unlimited screen time is sooooo fucking damaging.

maybe you could try a celling/ roof projector that shows space and other images as a way to slowly gwt hin away from needing to look at things during the night

girl I'm telling you. YOULL SEE A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! autistic kids don't need fucking tablets IDC what people say. I got my son use to it when he was 2 so it was easier but it made such a huge difference on his behavior and him being able to simply live in the moment and look us in our eyes.

please be careful, just taking it away and not tapering down, the iPad is like a drug, so expect drug withdrawal symptoms, good luck 🥰

iPads are a real double edged sword. They are a great education and entertainment tool but they are also very addictive. 🙁 I think it's perfectly reasonable to take it away after 7pm.

I wish you well. My son runs on routine and we made part of that routine the removal of screens at a set time. We are now trying to reduce time during the day too.

When my adult autistic son was 8 I used to put an audio book on his cd player for him to fall asleep with and it worked really well , not saying it's going to work but it might be worth a try 🥰

Lazy parenting caused this (I’ve been there, I get it!) there will be significant challenges until a routine is established. Exercise is super important as well, if my audhd kiddo isn’t doing 1-2 hrs of high intensity cardio training at least 5 days a week, her sleep is crap & so is her anxiety
