just for extra confusion, in Australia use UK sizing for men's and US sizing for women. :)

As an european I think we should stop nagging about the imperial units till we stop this nonsense. Japan makes sense.

That explains why some size 10’s are bigger than other size 10’s

Not to mention women’s shoes in the US are for thin ass feet and once you get to like size 9 there are no options, I’ve been buying “mens” shoes since 3rd grade due to having wide feet and wanting a little style

Japan's system makes so much sense that it pisses me off how much other countries want to be so different when it comes to something measuring something as simple as feet

Oh lord. We got a lot to work on for the future. There is no way we can interact on a global scale as much as we do and not have a standard system for things like this.

As someone who fits shoes on the daily, I WISH we had something as simple as Japan's measurements. Would make my life so much easier. But I have to go by the Brannock device and then warn people that that is just a jumping off point bc different companies fit differently and some companies even fit differently depending on style within their lines. So frustrating 🤦🏼♀️

Japan often has the best concepts. my favourite is that in Japan hours after midnight are often written past 24:00. This means 1:00 AM can be written as 25:00. This 30-hour clock system goes up to 29:59. Like "the party is from 23:00-26:00."

can we also please normalize *HAVING DIFFERENT SHOE WIDTHS*!
I know it's standardized to fit most but I dont have a birth defect or similar, just wide feet. I either need to get shoes from a shoemaker which cost an arm and a leg or I need to go to one specific shop where I find shoes that somewhat fit comfortably.

I like Japan’s system, but measuring the last as opposed to the foot isn’t actually that bad an idea either, as long as we all agree and use the same (preferably metric) measuring system.

men and women having different shoe sizes has always driven me bonkers. As a woman with wide feet, my shoes literally go from a 7 to an 11. Crazy.
