@becomingher.cathriona: Dr. Donald Condie didn’t just testify today… he gave the DA, the judge AND Red a whole lesson on women’s health! 😭👏🏽 The courtroom became a classroom REAL quick! 🎓
No one understands baby blues and postpartum depression unless you are a mother

Why do we not attribute this to the hormonal changes that are at the core of these issues? Calling it postpartum blues makes it sound like an emotional issue - it’s not. It’s a hormone change FROM the process of carrying and birthing a baby. Our language matters. Making a baby and bringing it to life is a LOT on the mother. We should be supporting mothers - not judging them

I was happy to hear them address thyroid issues and related bloodwork that should be done to rule that out .. untreated thyroid goes hand in hand with hormones, the brain, and symptoms that mimic those of depression, anxiety, bipolar. All of her other doctors felt this was unnecessary.

Women need SUPPORT and it is not the standard in our culture . Most other cultures understand the importance of recovery for at least a month following childbirth to let the new mother recover , sleep and rebalance herself . The community automatically steps in to help let her recover

Imagine finally finding the courage to open up to your spouse about what you’re going through, only to be called or labeled “crazy.” That kind of response is exactly why so many women suffer in silence. We need compassion, understanding, and support, not judgment. 💔
