They only do these to Africans . I was subjected to the harshest interrogation in Singapore . Asking where I work how much I get paid , my bank balance . Indonesia- Bali 😭😭 they were even scanning my fingernails for narcotics . They opened my bag going through every piece of clothing , opening my body lotions and body washes . The whole time saying that this was just a random check . - it was only done to me . Traveling as an African Is crazy

I was studying in Mauritius😭😭 . When searching my luggage they poured my spices checking for contraband. Mind you 🤣 I just watched them let white people pass without even searching.

Meanwhile, Kenya has been the most respectful country I have ever entered as a Sudanese citizen. It was so smooth and hassle free, I was genuinely confused because this has neeever happened before. Big ups Kenya!

My exact experience, word for word, travelling to mauritius in 2024,When i noticed none of the white people were stopped to be questioned at the baggage area, i asked what criteria they used for this process, they said they picked people out randomly but clearly only black people were stopped🙄🙄

I have stayed in Mauritius for like 2 years and I have landed in SSR international airport for 3 times, and my first time i was kept there by the immigration officers for more than 30min. If you are black, and you are travelling to Mauritius, there is a probability you will be profiled.

While we're on the topic, those with Madagascar on their bucket list be prepared for the profiling as well. My sister and mum were among the only six black passengers on the plane and the six of them were the only ones who were searched (pat-down and all). They even damaged my sister's suitcase. After that experience my mum said she could never recommend visiting the place to anyone. I for one, don't plan to.

Girl ,I got sent back ,TWICE .I was so upset because they profiled me ,I was the only black person on the plane and the only person who was asked for proof of accommodation and funds even before reaching the immigration person .I tell everyone I know never to go to Mauritius

I have always been telling people that travel is political. People don’t understand that your skin color and country of origin affects your travel experience. Im so sad we get to go through this

Am so sorry this can be traumatic.I experienced the same in Hong Kong in 2018. They even body searched me. As a black girl this no longer bothers me,am always prepared for this because it is what it is and we have to travel.
