@mrmbb333: These things just keep growing. The massive coronal holes we’ve been watching on the Earth-facing side of the Sun have expanded even more over the past 48 hours. And now the high-speed solar wind pouring out of them is headed our way. Over the next 48–72 hours, Earth could begin feeling the effects potentially triggering periods of geomagnetic storming and pushing auroras farther from the poles. Coronal holes are enormous regions where the Sun’s magnetic field opens into space, allowing solar wind to escape at much higher speeds.
