@toddlerscanread: Let’s get kids reading y’all. If you’re a parent or after-school volunteer… we want you equipped with the phonics tools to give kids the foundation they need to read. You don’t have to be a teacher to get this done, and it takes less time than you think.
Reading is one thing. It’s comprehension that’s the next big problem.

My son learned the letter sounds and is beginning to blend them but does not know the names of the letters. Is there something I can do to help him learn the names?

I’m blown away by how incredibly helpful these books and cards have been for my 6 year old! Now she’s always asking, “What’s next? Bring it on!” 😃. I can’t thank you enough for creating such thoughtful and valuable resources for our kids Sir! 🙏

I think what you have to offer is great, but I do wish there was more mature reading content for older kids to practice. Older kids don’t want to read a book that feels like it’s for a baby. It makes some feel ashamed.

You pull them out of public schools first, get them tested see exactly where they are not where the school tells you they are and you buy all about spelling and all about reading spend 9 mos heavily focused and guess what I have a reader now almost on grade level we’ve added IEW writing this year she’s doing beautifully now!

Is this too advanced for my much younger kids? We work on phonics but I’m not sure if I should wait?

So glad to see this! Children’s literacy is a huge passion of mine and a big part of why my son and I wrote a book together. Something that was a frustration and serious pain point for him, turned into a blessing.

I am so glad I learned to read at a very young age. I later learned if I had my dictionary next to me I could quickly define new words.

If I want to use this for small groups in my classroom, how long would you recommend this should take? Say, I do this daily.

I used “Logic of English” with my struggling reader. It gives mini lessons on all these sounds.

-ough is what nightmares are made of. It makes literally every sound it shouldn’t. The F was fully available and yet they still decided to spell it ‘tough’. 😭
