@btcbeyondthecase: In September 2022, 20-year-old Yareni Rios-Gonzalez was pulled over in Platteville, Colorado, following a reported road-rage incident involving a firearm. During the high-risk traffic stop, officers from two police departments arrived, and Yareni was handcuffed and placed inside the back of a police cruiser. The problem? The cruiser was parked directly on railroad tracks. While officers searched Yareni’s vehicle, a freight train approached the crossing, and despite the sound of the train horn, the cruiser was not moved. Officers eventually realized the train was coming and yelled for others to get away from the tracks, but Yareni was still locked inside the police car. Moments later, the train slammed into the cruiser, leaving Yareni seriously injured. She survived with multiple broken bones and other injuries, and two officers were later criminally charged over their actions. The case ultimately resulted in an $8.5 million settlement for Yareni, raising serious questions about police negligence, accountability, and how such a preventable tragedy could happen. #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeTok #TrueCrimeCommunity #PoliceAccountability #trainwreck
