The lumbar reflex plays a vital role in your baby's development. It's the longest leverage point for the spine to arch essential for posture, mobility, and eventually walking upright. From birth, this reflex is activated through movements like the Breast Crawl, where babies arch their back, push with their legs, and lift their head to reach the breast. But when birth is stressful, through C-sections, forceps, vacuum, or prolonged labor, these reflexes may not fully integrate. Carrying your baby upright too early (before 5-6 months) can reinforce these imbalances, especially if the lumbar spine isn't yet strong enough. Instead, they may need gentle support and sometimes treatment to release tension, restore balance, and build the right foundation.
