The prosecution asked Patrick Clancy’s mother whether she is Catholic and whether she knows that murder is a sin. But what does her religion have to do with the facts of this case? This isn’t a trial about her faith, her beliefs, or whether she understands that murder is wrong. It’s about what happened to Lindsay, Patrick, and their children. To me, questions like this feel less like they’re getting to the facts and more like they’re intentionally going down a path that could further paint Lindsay in the worst possible light.
