Build utility in XRP. Build liquidity in XRP. But perhaps the most interesting part comes when he discusses Ripple’s acquisitions. Garlinghouse says every acquisition Ripple makes is, “in one way or another,” intended to contribute to those objectives. And then: “We see in the three-dimensional game of chess, we see how we believe that’s going to evolve.” Some moves, he says, will be obvious. Others won’t be. That’s an important statement when looking at Ripple’s broader strategy: payments, custody, stablecoins, prime brokerage and institutional infrastructure aren’t necessarily separate stories. Ripple’s CEO is explicitly telling us to look at how the pieces fit together around XRP utility and liquidity.
