@drjoedamiani: 🔥 Shoulder blade pain? Strengthen the muscles that actually control it! Pain around the shoulder blade isn't always because the muscles are “too tight.” Sometimes those muscles are overstretched, fatigued, and not strong enough to control the shoulder blade properly. Here’s what’s happening... ⚡ The trapezius helps control and upwardly rotate your shoulder blades as your arms move. ⚡ When these muscles don't have enough strength or endurance, they can become overloaded and develop painful trigger points around the shoulder blade. ⚡ In this exercise, gravity is constantly pulling your arms toward the floor, so your trapezius and other shoulder blade muscles have to work to control the movement. Exercise shown: ✅ Lie face down with hips over a stability ball while maintaining a controlled head, neck, and spine position. ✅ Move your arms through a wide, jumping-jack-like motion while controlling your shoulder blades. ✅ Resist gravity throughout the entire movement instead of letting your arms simply drop. The goal here is to build strength and resilience in the muscles controlling your shoulder blades so they're better able to tolerate reaching, lifting, and everyday movement without becoming overloaded. #ShoulderBladePain #Trapezius #UpperBackPain #ShoulderPain #PhysicalTherapy
