As a teacher, I put up with this constantly from students and their parents. I look after myself so I look much younger than I am. I’ve been teaching for 9 years and have 9 more years of university education under my belt. I know my stuff. And then because it’s a female-dominated field, even the male teachers get a little more disdain than they usually would.

oh god they are SO comfortable and confident acting like we just don't know or understand things. It's ingrained and automatic, and they don't even realize they do it. (...But of course they refuse to acknowledge it bc they don't respect the person pointing it out.)
