I was told in EMT school, that you can press the side of a pen down firmly ontop of someones fingernail. Thought it was BS until I tried it

Tbh, everyone who does sternal rubs should have it done on them first. I don't think people understand why or how much that hurts.

One time I was having a seizure and i obviously don’t remember the sternal rub because I didn’t respond to it. But a few days later when I woke up in the ICU I was intubated and in a lot of chest pain, and I was scared bc I couldn’t communicate. I wrote on a piece of paper telling my boyfriend how bad my chest hurt he pulled down my gown and I had this MASIVE bruise in the dead center of my chest and went over both my breasts and I freaked out. I hate sternal rubs, it if doesn’t work with the recommended pressure don’t push and rub harder!

I have hypermobility and my skin is easily damaged. I have injuries from reaching into a drawer sometimes. maybe she has a connective tissue issue
