What about twisting the nipples? Is that a thing or what? Is it medically appropriate?

isnt the sternal rub becoming obsolete? I thought we were moving to the trapezius squeeze.

Tbh, everyone who does sternal rubs should have it done on them first. I don't think people understand why or how much that hurts.

I was told in EMT school, that you can press the side of a pen down firmly ontop of someones fingernail. Thought it was BS until I tried it

The way one of my neurosurgeons will go straight for the nipple. Makes me cringe every single time.

There's no way that actually came from rubbing a patient's sternum. That looks like she was using a cheese grater and wasn't paying attention or something.

I hate sternal rubs. Theyre very last resort for me after trap squeeze , occular notch pressure, and pen to the nailbed

The way so many people do it unnecessarily forceful is infuriating. I brought a pt in once who was in status. Told the dr that GCS was 3 and he said “you know that means unresponsive right?” Do /you/ want to be GCS 3? Then he decided it was fake seizures and sternum rubbed my pt so hard it was the force of a full compression. The rest of the care team was horrified. It was some dumbass new dr
