Inspired by street food flavours from Indonesia, these skewers are perfect for grilling, BBQs, or a quick weeknight meal once marinated ✨ Sweet Soy Beef Satay Skewers Recipe ⤵️ Ingredients Beef skewers 500g beef rump or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain ¼ tsp baking soda 3 tbsp ABC Sweet Soy Sauce (kecap manis) 3 cloves garlic 3 shallots 1-2 bird’s eye chillies 1 stalk lemongrass, white part only 1 tbsp tamarind paste mixed with 1 tbsp water 1 tsp ground coriander ½ tsp ground black pepper 1½ tsp salt 1 tbsp neutral oil Bamboo skewers, soaked in water To serve ABC Original Chilli Sauce (Sambal Asli) Lime wedges Method 1. Lightly toss the sliced beef with baking soda and set aside for 10–15 minutes. Rinse well, then pat dry. 2. Pound or blend the garlic, shallots, chilli, and lemongrass into a smooth paste. 3. Then combine the paste with ABC Sweet Soy Sauce, tamarind mixture, coriander powder, black pepper, salt, and oil. 4. Add the marinade mixture to the beef and mix well to coat. Cover and marinate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for more flavour. 5. Thread the marinated beef tightly onto soaked bamboo skewers. 6. Heat a grill pan or barbecue and cook skewers in batches, turning regularly until browned and lightly charred. 7. Serve hot with ABC Original Chilli Sauce on the side and fresh lime wedges for squeezing over.
