Lakesha Brown 42 was arrested in Atlanta after allegedly kidnapping two young sisters while posing as their babysitter. On Saturday August 15 2026 around 6 p.m. the mother Elica Redding left her daughters 4 year old Zola Cooper and 11 month old Norah Cooper with Brown while she went to dinner. Brown had spent about a year building the mothers trust. Arrest warrants state she posed as a babysitter in a Facebook pregnancy mom group and offered free services for expectant mothers. Brown said she was taking the girls to Walmart and Candy Utopia then to a grandmothers house but did not return. When Redding came home around 10 p.m. the children and Brown were gone. She received messages from Brown claiming she would return them that proved false. Redding contacted police the next day. An Amber Alert was issued describing Brown as possibly traveling in a 2009 white Ford F 350 truck with an Alabama license plate. Police and the FBI used cellphone data to track Brown to the Gateway South Apartments on Sylvan Road. On Monday August 17 officers heard a baby crying from a trailer. They entered found both children in good health and arrested Brown. Bodycam video shows officers recovering the girls. The children were checked medically and reunited with their mother. Brown faces two counts of kidnapping two counts of first degree cruelty to children and a fugitive from justice charge. She is held at the Fulton County Jail and waived her initial court appearance on Tuesday August 18. Brown was previously accused in a 2021 case in Fairfield Alabama. She allegedly befriended the family of a 4 day old boy Kamarion Taylor and the infant disappeared after she was at the home. The child was found safe. Brown was charged with first degree kidnapping failed to appear in court and had an outstanding warrant. Motive has not been publicly detailed.

If they had jailed the kidnapper for life after she kidnapped that kid 5 years ago these kids wouldn’t have been kidnapped. This time lock her up and throw away the key.
