@drjoelgator: “How was school?” “Fine.” “What did you do?” “Nothing.” A beautiful conversation. Really rich stuff. 😂 Sometimes the problem isn’t that our kids don’t want to talk. It’s that we keep asking questions that are incredibly easy to shut down. Try questions that give them somewhere to go: What made you laugh today? Who did you sit with at lunch? What was the hardest part of your day? Did anything surprise you? You may start with a story about somebody sneezing milk out of their nose and somehow end up hearing about a friendship problem they’ve been carrying around all day. And when they finally tell you something important, resist the urge to immediately fix it, lecture, investigate, call the school, create a spreadsheet, and convene a family summit. Sometimes the most powerful response is simply: “Tell me more.” Connection usually works better than interrogation. #Parenting #Kids #ParentingTips #ChildDevelopment
I used to ask my children just: "good news, bad news? let's go to eat". 😁

True. I learnt this Abit earlier. I ask my 5 yr old, what did you eat at break, who did you share with, what funny thing did the teacher say???? Man then she pours out stories both funny and concerning then I give her a Dad's big hug.
thanks for helping parents
