@aero.total: A Lufthansa Airbus A380 touched down before the runway threshold while landing at Munich Airport on Monday, damaging part of the runway lighting system. The aircraft, D-AIML, was operating flight LH459 from San Francisco to Munich with 351 passengers on board. Lufthansa confirmed that the aircraft landed safely and that all passengers disembarked normally. No injuries were reported. Reports indicate that several tires sustained tread damage during the event. The A380 was nevertheless able to complete the landing and taxi to the apron under its own power. The aircraft has remained on the ground in Munich since the incident. Germany’s Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) is investigating why the A380 made ground contact before the runway threshold. The incident occurred on Runway 26L — the same runway involved in the Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 takeoff incident just two days earlier. 📷 Lufthansa Group — illustrative image #Lufthansa #AirbusA380 #MunichAirport #AviationSafety #AviationNews
