Sometimes us recruiters ask the dumbest questions 😂😂 Comedian ‪@Darryl‬ has a sketch where he's being interviewed for a job. Recruiter asks: “Why should we hire you?” And the candidate looks at her like SHE’S the one who’s confused. “Didn’t you post the job? Don’t you need somebody to fill it?” Then he says: “Just hire me so you can stop interviewing and take some time off and relax.” I’m crying because technically... he’s not wrong. She DID post the job. They DO need someone. He IS sitting right there. But the video exposes something deeper: Candidates often answer the literal question. Recruiters are asking the strategic one. “What we really mean is: Why should we hire YOU over the other 150 applicants?” What problem do you solve? What risk do you reduce? What value do you create? And honestly? Some interview questions deserve the side-eye they get. 😒 “Why do you want to work here?” Ma’am... because I have a mortgage payment to make.

The strongest candidates understand that most interview questions are less about the words being asked... and more about the signal hiding underneath them. The best interviews don’t feel like interrogations. They feel like two adults trying to determine: Can this person solve the problem this business actually has?
