You also notice who has rich parents because so many people I know do nothing or are in random jobs at 35+ live in expensive houses, send their kids to private school, drive BMWs. Coming from money makes a massive difference too

just to add - in those jobs, you can connect a LOT of reimburses business expenses on a points card. so your super rich friends might actually spend less than you because of this benefit!

What concerns me more, is that my daughter, who has both a bachelors and masters degree is making the same amount of money in her first year”professional job” that I made 30 years ago on my first “real professional job”….. the wealth gap between the rich and the poor that continues to grow is not a news clip and is a real thing happening…

I have friends in frontier AI companies and they always fly first class now. They asked me to go to a family vacation together and I’m like yea I can’t afford where you guys will go. My wife and I are doing fine, close to $600k or so, but it’s peanuts compared to $2-3m a year
