@laetitiaky: I made a naked bikini for the beach this weekend, and it was honestly such a fun experience 😭. For anyone who wants to reproduce it, I followed an amazing YouTube tutorial that I screenshotted and added here… I didn’t need a tutorial for the bushy bikini bottom though! Lol. Needless to say, the reactions were funny, weird, sometimes dramatic, sometimes super positive. People were staring, recording me, coming up to ask where I got it, and a few women even asked if I could make one for them. And weirdly, that whole little beach moment made me want to write about nakedness. Lately, I have also been sharing a lot more of my paintings because I am finally getting back into a real creative mode. And one thing I keep noticing is that most people who get offended by my paintings often do because they see a naked body in the image… For them, that alone is enough to conclude: Sex. Porn. Indecent. Why does nakedness get only one meaning? Clothes are allowed to be sexy, elegant, serious, funny, boring, political, dramatic, whatever, depending on the context. So why can’t a naked body have that same range? Sometimes nakedness is sexual. Sometimes it is artistic. Sometimes it is funny. Sometimes it is political. Sometimes it is intimate. Sometimes it is literally just a body existing. I do not want nudity to stop being sexual. I just want sex to stop being the only thing nudity is allowed to mean… I wrote the full thing on Substack because, clearly, I had more to say... I talk about my paintings, why nudity became so neutral to me over the years, how art, fitness, body type, impacted that self perception… the way women’s bodies are perceived, and why I think allowing nakedness to have more meanings than just “porn” can actually make women’s lives a little easier too… Link in bio if you want to read the whole thing 🥰
