@thejointreplacementpod: Can an injection actually regrow cartilage in an arthritic knee? Atul Kamath, MD uses a great analogy: think of your knee cartilage like the surface of a road. If most of the road is healthy and there are a few potholes, there may be opportunities to treat those focal areas. But if the entire road surface is severely damaged, simply filling a few potholes may not fix the underlying problem. Cortisone, hyaluronic acid, PRP and other treatments may have a role for certain patients—particularly earlier in the arthritis process—but there is currently no “magic injection” that reliably regrows the cartilage of a severely arthritic knee. 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Dr. Atul Kamath on The Joint Replacement Podcast. #KneeArthritis #PRP #Cartilage #KneeReplacement #JointReplacement
