You make an attempt. You notice what worked and what didn’t. Then instead of immediately moving on to something completely different, you try again with that new information. Each repetition becomes a small correction to the one before it. Your lines get cleaner. Your proportions improve. Your understanding of the form gets stronger. Decisions that required concentration slowly become instinct. That’s a huge part of how the Drawing Drills are designed. Don’t practice something until you’ve done it once. Practice it until you understand it. Then keep going until you don’t have to think about it anymore.
