@trademoviespodcast: 🤖🤪🤑😰 This movie was SO RIGHT about the future…50 years ago. But what I think is fascinating is that it would NOT have been as predictive in 2010. Sure, certain things would have been—we have been corporatizing and trying to remake feudalism pretty much unrestrainedly since 1975—but to nail data centers and AI and AI psychosis like this? And things being transcribed and destroyed and then losing the data? How!!! That’s so wild! Absolutely recommend, just imagine it as a Verhoevenlike and you’ll love it. The movie is: —Rollerball (1975), by Norman Jewison Also seen/heard: —RoboCop (1988), by Paul Verhoeven —Total Recall (1990), by Paul Verhoeven —Some sport called Run It Straight lol #scifimovie #aipsychosis #movietok #filmtok #antiai

Did you hear that PBS lost all of its digitized archived programming and they're suing the cloud company that they were storing it with?

paper as a medium is literally one of the best knowledge preservation methods to date. we have more data on it then the majority of other storage mediums

If I recall correctly, rollerball did not receive a great critical reviews. But it was a very forward thinking dystopian science fiction movie. I need to go back and watch it again.

Just scannong the books is one thing, but scanning *and then destroying* them? There is loterally NO reason to destroy them. 2 archives is better than one. Why wouldnt you create the digital archive, *and* keep the physical one? ...unless youre trying to be the singular force controlling the knowledge they posess.

Just saw a story came out , a reporter tagged 1000 "rare" books sent to Amazon, only to find out what happens...theyre DESTROYED. They de bind, scan, and destroy. What in the Farenheit 451 ... we are COOKED

This is part of why I desperately want to make an animated version of Memoirs Found in a Bathtub by Stanislaw Lem. How society falls apart when we lose access to knowledge.

and it's not like there aren't non-destructive methods of scanning rare books, they're just slow and expensive and that would eat into corporate profits, which I'm told are all bad things.
