I made a character with npd, and I did it completely by accident? I realized that I gave her a lot of narcissistic traits and then decided ", sure I'll just give it to her to further my writing abilities!!" and now im doing a ton of research to make sure shes okay

I don’t have npd, so I don’t know if this is accurate representation, but I really like the representation in the dad from the short film “Opal”. He is really narcissistic, but it’s really clear that the root of this is that he gets abused by his wife (to the point that his face is disfigured). He also isn’t framed like some horrible monster. He’s actually appears to be the person who cares the most about Clair/Opal (now, I know that the bar isn’t that high, but it’s something). The way that I see it is that he genuinely cares for his daughter, but he’s to caught up with himself-because he’s insecure about his disfigured face-to take proper care of Clair/Opal. As I said before, I don’t have Npd, so if this representation is inaccurate, please correct me.

Is it possible for a person with NPD to not necessarily want admiration but some other "proof" of power/superiority? Like instead of caring whether they're admired or not, they rather care about whether others feel threatened by them or not or smtg similiar?

I made my villain oc (Yeli) a narcissist person and when I decided to also "canonicalize" some AU (alternative universes) I made an AU where Yeli isn't the villain and I still made them a narcissist but more of a "please lemme help you with this" narcissist since I hate how people think narcissism = prideful, villainous or baf

this is a reminder that there are some people with npd who WANT to hurt you- npd can trigger the idea of being able to hurt someone (emotionally or physically) for their own gain. i find this is more common from personal experiences- not everyone with npd does it purposely. but there are some who do. (all im getting at is that its safer to be aware, and sometimes it takes them losing support systems over time to be able to seek help. please make sure that this wont cause them to harm themselves, and if they threaten to hurt themselves then ensure you call your regions emergency line to get a wellfare check done. their safety is as important as yours, and you dont deserve any of these things to hsppen to you. this goes for people WITH npd- if you need a wellfare check, its okay to call the emergency line on yourself. noticing youre symptoms is the best first step to getting better and recieving help! thus isnt attempts to discourage anyone, this is an attempt for people to be aware)

My dad has npd and I will tell yall some of his characteristics a lot of the times people with npd pick things think they are going to achieve my dad for example things that he’s going to be rich he constantly boards stuff that he thinks will make him rich. He doesn’t support Trump, but he says that he will buy a Tesla. He only marries woman so they can take care of him. He will also fantasize about being president and being richer than Elon Musk one day ( he doesn’t pay child support btw) he has showed a lot of signs of npd if you have any questions I can answer them
