For more than a half century, his contributions helped define the unique sound of “the little ol’ band from Texas,” and his drumming was an essential element of the trio’s most memorable songs. Beard's influence can be heard in the work of such drummers as Lars Ulrich of Metallica and Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters.
