@thesteadyhead: Ever feel like you’re rocking, swaying, floating or constantly “off” — even when you’re standing completely still? That can be what PPPD (Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness) feels like. PPPD is a chronic vestibular condition where the brain’s balance system becomes overly sensitive. Symptoms are often worse when you’re upright, moving, travelling as a passenger, walking through supermarkets, looking at screens or spending time in visually busy environments. It can feel like: • Rocking or swaying • Floating • Feeling off-balance • Lightheadedness • Brain fog • Feeling disconnected or “not right” • Increased sensitivity to movement and visual stimulation PPPD often develops after another period of dizziness, such as vestibular migraine, BPPV, Ménière’s disease, vestibular neuritis or another vestibular problem. And one of the most important things to understand is this: PPPD is not “just anxiety” and the symptoms are not imagined. Anxiety and stress can make symptoms worse, but PPPD is a recognised vestibular condition — and it can exist alongside other vestibular disorders. The good news? PPPD can improve. Vestibular rehabilitation, gradual exposure, CBT, nervous-system regulation and medication in some cases can all form part of treatment. Recovery may take time and it isn’t always a straight line, but improvement is possible. 💙 Save this if you’ve been struggling to explain your dizziness. 💙 Share it with someone who needs to understand PPPD. 💙 Follow for more information about vestibular migraine, Ménière’s disease, SSCD, PPPD, dizziness and balance disorders. #pppd #vertigo #dizziness #vestibularmigraines #invisibleillness

I was recently admitted to hospital when I went in with unsteady walking, feeling like I was in space, terrible fatigue, and a sensation of falling backwards. I am using crutches to help keep me steady.doctors diagnosed vertigo for years- I just knew it wasn’t I spent 5 days in hospital having lots of tests, including MRIs, CT scans, X-rays and blood tests. They said I have sensory ataxia and that it’s linked to MS. I seen an audiologist last week who did a Skull vibration-induced nystagmus test (awful) and diagnosed me with PPPD, I still have MRIs coming up to actually find out if I have both Sending love to whoever has this horrible thing 🥰

this started for me about 12 years ago. had so many gp appointments, referrals to all sorts of people, developed bad health and generalised anxiety, then finally found someone on YouTube about 5 years ago with PPPD and pretty much diagnosed myself! It's such an unrecognised condition. My GP finally referred me to a vestibular specialist and they formally diagnosed me, but by then I was already taking sertraline for my anxiety which has also helped with the PPPD. Still have off days with it and quite regularly feel like I'm on a boat when I lie flat in bed! Horrible condition to have, really messes your life up but nobody really knows about it
