My take is that everyone is so busy blaming each other that they don’t blame who’s really at fault, which is THE AIRLINES - realistically, it should just be policy that minors are always automatically seated with a guardian on their reservation, without them having to pay to pick a seat. But airlines are so money hungry that they capitalize on a parent wanting to sit next to their six year old kid.

I don't think the issue is asking, I think the real issue is people getting mad when the answer is no, because sometimes (like you said) it is, and the asker doesn't always want to ask someone else.

People asking to swap from 27c to 28c is not big deal. It’s when they want you to trade your window seat in the front of the plane to a middle seat in the back and don’t get why that’s a problem.

The faux pau isn't the asking, it's the guilt trip that follows afterwards when people turn down the individual because they don't want to give up the seat they paid for. I know you address this, but the basis of your video is focusing on the faulty premise that people think its rude to even ask.

Gotta disagree….. the thing is airlines give you the option to pay a small fee to select your seat, I do this every time because I like to sit in a certain spot, people who want to trade because they decided they’d not pay the fee and would just burden someone else if they don’t get what they want is not on. If you don’t want to be separated from the people you’re travelling with, pay the fee. If you don’t want to pay the fee, you get what you get and you don’t get upset.
