PK6 Gearbox Repair | Rebuilding The Secondary Shaft. • We continue repairing the PK6 manual gearbox used in the Opel Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Renault Master and related vehicles. • In the previous parts, we completed the gearbox inspection and identified all major faults. One issue has already been repaired by eliminating excessive play in the gear selector mechanism. • However, a second major problem remained - third and fourth gears were difficult to engage or would not engage at all. • After disassembling the secondary shaft, the cause was identified as failed retaining rings inside the 3rd and 4th gear synchronizer assembly. • Interestingly, these original parts cost only a few euros each, but replacing them requires extensive gearbox disassembly and many hours of labor. • In this video, we rebuild the secondary shaft and show the complete assembly process step by step. • Almost all components of the secondary shaft are press-fitted, making assembly order and component orientation extremely important. • Special attention is given to synchronizer assembly and the correct positioning of the synchronizer outer rings to ensure proper gearbox operation. • Since this vehicle was travelling long distance and required only essential repairs to continue its journey, a complete gearbox rebuild was not performed.
