If it’s a constant problem, why not install breakers?

Why didn’t you ohm it?

Dumb question but why are you checking a difference in potential and not continuitty

Wouldnt it be better to go to the bottom of the fuse terminal to ground? Lets say you had no supply voltage all fuses would check good like this

I assume that panel is more than 50v so wouldn't replacing the fuse not fall under troubleshooting and you are supposed to Lockout the panel? not saying you are in the wrong, just a genuine question.

Must be a grounded delta transformer if you have 460 on a single leg

um... difference in potential and the way the meter works at some point the secondary sode of the fuse would need a reference to ground, is the whole building a corner grounded delta?

why is that there is voltage when fuse is blown and vice versa?

I get this way as well. I normally start by putting one on ground and one on the bottom of the fuse block.

We had cabinets in a dirty environment and what we did was pressure it with clean dry air. Plumb it in with a regulator with like 10psi and kept all that mess from going in.

That’s ideal; however, for the best reading of the fuse, you should pull it and check with an ohmmeter.

My teacher said you’re supposed to cross check fuses, not top and bottom

Yesterday we spent four hours troubleshooting from our oil mist station pressure switch, back to the relay, and fuses only to find out the operator did not have the mill in Run mode. smh.

Difference of potential? I guess I learned something I go bottom of fuse to ground. After I check in coming power.

Going load side of the fuse to ground is the most common way to troubleshoot, but to each is own... as long as you find the problem
