Maybe it’s because I’m from Hawaii, where all of our 7-11s are like Japan, but they sell a ton of sushi rolls there, and it’s actually good. And I wouldn’t call $2.69-$2.99 expensive.

That's called a hand roll in America and in general we just don't order those because they're less fun and they look far less fancy. you can't order 4 different ones and share them. it's just a lesser experience. but sure we have hand rolls.

One person’s experience doesn’t make something true. Uncut sushi rolls are available in other parts of the world. We also have larger sushi burritos in California, NY and Hawaii

Highly exaggerated lol. To a certain extent it’s true but it’s mainly the choice of ingredients rather than the shape and style of the roll. Hand rolls almost exclusively uses cooked ingredients, commonly cooked chicken which is highly unusual in sushi. The reason for our “unique” sushi culture is how late it became mainstream in Australia, it had no choice but to adjust to the local palate
