@abcdefaaako: Two years. Bam still couldn’t believe it sometimes. Two years since Oom had asked her to be her girlfriend. Two years of late-night calls, random food deliveries, stupid arguments over what movie to watch, and mornings when neither of them wanted to get out of bed. Two years of knowing that, somehow, Oom had become home. That was why Bam couldn’t stop smiling as they sat across from each other at a small restaurant that evening. The table was simple. A few candles. Their favorite food. And a small cake the restaurant had prepared after Oom secretly asked them to. Bam looked at it and laughed. “You planned all this?” Oom leaned back in her chair, looking far too pleased with herself. “Obviously.” She smirked like she knew she had done well. “You can’t even plan what you’re eating tomorrow.” “That’s different.” “How?” “Tomorrow is tomorrow.” Bam laughed. “You’re impossible.” “And yet here you are.” Oom smirked again. “For two years.” “Exactly my point.” Oom reached across the table and took her hand. “Happy anniversary, baby.” Bam’s smile softened. “Happy anniversary.” For a moment, neither of them said anything. They just looked at each other. Oom rubbed her thumb across Bam’s knuckles. Then, almost casually, she said, “Move in with me.” Bam blinked. “What?” Oom smiled. “Move in.” Bam stared at her. “You’re serious?” “Very.” “With you?” “No, with the neighbor.” Bam laughed. “Oom!” “I’m serious.” She squeezed Bam’s hand. “I want you there.” Bam’s laughter slowly faded. “You really want me to move in?” “Yeah.” “Are you sure?” Oom looked at her like the question was ridiculous. “Bam, we’ve been together for two years.” “I know.” “I want to wake up next to you.” Bam’s heart skipped. “And I want to come home and know you’re there.” She smiled. “So?” Bam looked at her for a long moment. Then she nodded. “Okay.” For a second, Oom just stared at her. “Okay?” Bam laughed. “Yes. I’ll move in.” Oom immediately pushed her chair back and stood. Bam barely had time to react before Oom leaned across the table and kissed her. When they pulled apart, Oom wrapped her arms around Bam and hugged her tightly. Bam laughed against her shoulder. “You’re really happy.” “Of course I am.” Oom pulled back just enough to look at her. “My girlfriend is moving in with me.” Bam smiled. Oom kissed her again, quick and sweet. Bam shook her head, laughing. “You’ve been waiting for that answer, haven’t you?” “Maybe.” “How long?” “I am not saying.” Bam playfully smacked Oom’s arm. “You’re ridiculous.” “Ridiculously in love with my Bambi.” Oom hugged her again. “Good.” Bam rested her arms around her. “Good.” For that moment, there was nothing else they needed to talk about. Just the two of them, holding each other across a restaurant table, already talking about which side of the closet would belong to whom. ⸻ Moving in turned out to be messier than Bam expected. Not emotionally. Physically. There were boxes everywhere. Clothes that somehow took up three times more space than either of them expected. Kitchen things they both insisted they needed. And one very dramatic argument about where Bam’s books were supposed to go. “They’re taking up the entire shelf.” “They’re books.” “I can see that.” “Then why are you complaining?” “Because I have books too.” “Then make another shelf.” Oom stared at her. “You’re very demanding for someone who just moved in.” Bam smiled. “You asked me to move in, remember?” “I know.” Oom sighed dramatically. “And somehow, I’m already regretting giving you access to my entire house.” Bam threw a small pillow at her. Oom laughed and caught it. Despite the chaos, they were happy. Really happy. Bam liked waking up and finding Oom already in the kitchen. She liked coming home and seeing Oom’s slippers by the door. She liked the little notes Oom sometimes left on the refrigerator. Eat lunch. Don’t forget your umbrella. I love you. Sometimes the notes were less romantic. Buy toilet paper. We’re out of coffee. Bam would take pictures of those too. Continuation…➡️ #oombam #lenamiu #au

9️⃣ She sat on the edge of her bed, still holding her phone. She stared at the screen. No message from Oom. Nothing. Bam laughed quietly. It wasn’t a happy laugh. It was the kind that came when something hurt so badly that crying wasn’t enough anymore. She remembered the car. I’ve loved Miu since freshman year. I thought she was never coming back. You were convenient. Bam covered her face. “So that’s what I was.” Her voice broke. She wiped her cheeks. Then she laughed again, tears still falling. “Happy birthday, Bam.” She looked toward the cake downstairs. Her family had spent the evening making her feel loved. And somehow, the person she had spent the last two years loving had forgotten. Bam looked down at her phone one last time. Then whispered, “Thanks for the nice present, Oom.”

1️⃣ Because they were theirs. Their little life. Their home. And Oom seemed to love having her there just as much. She cooked when Bam was tired. She stole blankets at night. She complained whenever Bam left clothes on the chair. And somehow, Oom’s socks always ended up everywhere except the laundry basket. Bam had accepted that as a permanent part of their relationship. ⸻ Saturday coffee had become a habit long before Bam and Oom moved in together. Every Saturday, the four of them met at the same café. Orm. Ling. Oom. And Bam. Nothing fancy. Just coffee, food, and whatever random topic they could argue about for two hours. That Saturday, Bam was sitting beside Oom while Oom stole fries from her plate. “Stop.” “I’m hungry.” “You ordered your own.” “I don’t like mine.” “You ordered the same thing.” “Exactly.” Bam rolled her eyes. Orm laughed from across the table. “So, how’s the married life?” Bam nearly choked on her drink. “We’re not married.” “Yet,” Ling added. Oom grinned. “Don’t give her ideas.” Bam nudged her. “You’re the one who asked me to move in.” “And?” Orm leaned forward. “So? How is she as a roommate?” Bam thought for a moment. “Pretty good.” Oom nodded proudly. “See?” “She lets me move things around.” “Because it’s your home too,” Oom said. Bam smiled. “She cooks for me.” “You asked me to.” “You cook for me.” “Fine.” Bam laughed. “But her socks can never walk to the laundry basket.” Orm burst out laughing. Ling pointed at Oom. “I knew it.” Oom looked offended. “My socks have nothing to do with this conversation.” “They have everything to do with it,” Bam said. Oom reached over and stole another fry. Bam slapped her hand. “Hey!” “That’s for the socks.” Everyone laughed. Orm was still laughing when she suddenly glanced at her phone. “Oh.” Ling looked at her. “What?” Orm smiled. “You guys, Miu’s coming back.” Ling immediately looked at Oom. “Wait. Why didn’t you tell us?” Oom shrugged. “It never came up.” Bam looked between them. “Who’s Miu?” Orm looked surprised. “You haven’t heard about Miu?” Bam shook her head. Orm glanced at Oom. “She’s Ling and Oom’s childhood friend.”

3️⃣ Miu hugged her too. “Finally. I’ve heard so much about you.” Bam glanced at Oom. “You have?” Miu grinned. “Enough.” Oom rolled her eyes. “Don’t listen to her.” Miu laughed. “So you’re the girlfriend.” Oom casually slipped an arm around Bam. “Yep.” Bam smiled. “My girlfriend.” Miu looked at them and smiled. “You two are cute.” Bam laughed. “Thank you.” They settled around the table. For the next hour, Miu talked about everything she had missed while she was away. Stories about school. Her first apartment. The food she hated. The people she met. The places she visited. Everyone listened. Everyone laughed. It felt easy. Normal. At one point, Miu checked her phone. She stood. “I’ll be right back.” Everyone nodded. “Okay.” Miu disappeared toward the entrance. A few minutes later, she returned. But she wasn’t alone. Someone was holding her hand. “Okay, everyone.” She smiled. “I want you to meet someone.” The woman beside her smiled shyly. “This is Lena.” Miu squeezed her hand. “My fiancée.” For a second, everyone froze. Then the table exploded. “What?!” “Fiancée?” “When did this happen?” “You couldn’t have told us before tonight?” Miu laughed. “I wanted to see your faces.” Everyone started congratulating them. Bam smiled genuinely. “Congratulations.” Lena smiled. “Thank you.” Oom didn’t say anything. She simply reached for her drink. A little too quickly. Ling noticed. “You okay?” Oom looked at her. “Yeah.” “You never drink this much.” Oom laughed. “I haven’t even had that much.” Ling looked at her glass. “That’s your third.” “It’s a celebration.” Miu suddenly looked over. “Wait.” She pointed at Oom’s drink. “Since when did you learn to drink like that?” Oom shrugged. “Since you left.” Everyone laughed. But Oom kept drinking. Later that night, Bam quietly reached for her hand. “Okay. We’re going home.” Oom looked at her. “I’m fine.” “You’re drunk.” “I’m not.” “You tried to argue with a chair.” Oom looked offended. “It started it.” Bam laughed. “Come on.” She helped Oom stand. “Say goodbye.” Oom waved lazily. “Bye.” Miu laughed. “Take care of her.” Bam smiled. “I will.”

2️⃣ Ling laughed. “Not just childhood friend. You three were practically attached at the hip.” Oom gave her a look. “Don’t exaggerate.” “I’m not.” Orm looked back at Bam. “She’s been in the States for almost five years.” “Five years?” Bam asked. “Yeah. We barely heard anything after she left.” Bam looked at Oom. Oom was casually sipping her coffee, completely relaxed. Bam smiled. “I’m excited to meet her.” Oom glanced at her. “You’ll like her.” “Really?” “Probably.” “That’s very convincing.” Ling and Oom laughed. “I’m trying.” ⸻ A few days later, Bam was sitting on the couch at home when Oom’s phone buzzed. Oom looked at the screen. Then smiled. “What?” Bam looked over. “Nothing.” “You’re smiling.” “So?” “You only smile like that when you’re planning something stupid.” Oom laughed. “That’s rude.” “Am I wrong?” “Maybe.” A few seconds later, Oom turned her phone toward Bam. “Look.” A group chat had been created. Miu: Hey ladies, the princess is back!! Bam laughed. “She really called herself a princess?” Oom shook her head. “She hasn’t changed.” Messages immediately started coming in. Orm welcomed her. Ling complained that she had disappeared for five years. Miu responded with laughing emojis and promises to explain everything when they met. Oom replied. Welcome back. Miu immediately responded. That’s all I get? Oom laughed. What do you want? A parade? Bam watched her. “You two seem close.” “We grew up together.” Miu sent another message. Everyone’s getting together. No excuses. Oom showed Bam the invitation. “You coming?” Bam smiled. “Of course.” “Good.” Oom put her phone down. “Because I’m not going alone.” ⸻ The bar was already loud when they arrived. Miu spotted them almost immediately. “Oh my God!” She ran toward them. Orm was the first victim of her hug. Then Ling. Then Oom. Miu hugged her tightly and kissed both her cheeks. “I missed you!” Oom smiled. “You’ve been gone for five years.” “Exactly. You should be more emotional.” “I’m emotional.” “You don’t look emotional.” “I’m trying.” Miu laughed and turned toward Bam. “And you must be Bam.” Bam smiled. “I am.”

5️⃣ “I’m taking you somewhere nice.” “Really?” “Of course.” Bam smiled. “I like the sound of that.” They drove for a while. Then the car’s audio system chimed. The incoming call appeared on the dashboard screen. Miu Bam looked at the name. Then at Oom. “Why is she calling you?” Oom glanced at the screen. “Probably because she needs help.” Oom answered through the car’s audio system. “Hello?” Miu’s voice came through the speakers. “Hi, Ooom. Are you busy?” Oom glanced briefly at Bam. “I’m with Bam.” “Oh. Sorry.” “What’s wrong?” “Lena and Ling went out to buy something, and I need help with something here.” “What do you need?” “I’ll explain when you get here.” Oom was quiet for a moment. “Okay. I’ll come.” “Really?” “Yeah.” “Thank you! See you.” “See you.” The call ended. Bam stared ahead for a few seconds. “You’re going there after dinner?” Oom kept her eyes on the road. “Actually, I was going to tell you.” Bam turned toward her. “Tell me what?” “I rescheduled our reservation.” Bam frowned. “For when?” “Later.” “So we’re still having dinner?” Oom hesitated. “I can drive you home first and pick you up later.” Bam stared at her. “Why?” Oom sighed. “Miu needs help.” Bam looked out the window. “You’ve been spending a lot of time with her.” Oom didn’t respond. Bam looked back at her. “We had plans.” “I know.” “You made the reservation.” “I know.” “And now you’re changing it again.” Oom’s jaw tightened. “Bam, it’s not a big deal.” “It is to me.” Oom remained silent. Bam watched her. Then her voice became firmer. “Talk to me.” Oom didn’t answer. Bam swallowed. “Please.” Nothing. Bam looked at her. “Talk to me, Oom.” Oom suddenly slammed on the brakes. The car stopped hard. Bam’s body jerked against the seatbelt. She stared at Oom. Oom’s hands tightened around the steering wheel. Then she turned toward Bam. “Okay.” Her voice was sharp. “You want to talk?” Bam froze. “Fine.” Oom’s voice rose. “Let’s talk!” Bam stared at her. She had never seen Oom like this. Not once. Not in two years. Oom had never shouted at her. Never looked at her with that kind of anger.

6️⃣ And suddenly, Bam didn’t know who was sitting beside her. Tears slipped down her cheeks before she could stop them. Oom looked away. Bam wiped them quickly. “Why are you angry?” Oom didn’t answer. “Is it Miu?” Silence. “Is that what this is?” Nothing. Bam swallowed. “Are you upset because Miu and Lena are together?” Oom’s jaw tightened. Bam noticed. “Is that why you’ve been drinking?” “Oom…” “Why do you always excuse yourself whenever they’re together?” “Stop.” Bam stared at her. “You’ve been different since she came back.” “I said stop.” “Is it because you—” “I said stop!” Bam flinched. The car fell silent. Oom stared straight ahead. Bam’s voice became smaller. “Is it Miu?” For a long moment, Oom said nothing. Then finally— “Yes.” Bam’s heart sank. “Yes, what?” Oom closed her eyes briefly. “It’s Miu.” Bam stared at her. “Since when?” Oom didn’t answer. “Oom, talk to me.” “Why?” “Because I deserve to know.” Oom laughed bitterly. “You really want to know?” “Yes.” Oom looked at her. “I’ve loved Miu since freshman year.” Bam went completely still. “Freshman year?” “Yes.” “How long is that?” “Six years.” Bam’s lips parted. Six years. She had spent two years loving Oom. Oom had spent six years loving someone else. Oom looked back toward the windshield. “We were close.” “How close?” “Very.” Bam swallowed. Oom continued. “I did everything for her.” She gave a small, bitter laugh. “She used to joke that I treated her like a princess.” Bam didn’t say anything. So that’s where the princess thing came from. “She was my first love.” Oom paused. “I thought if I told her how I felt, maybe she’d finally see me differently.” Bam’s eyes filled again. “And?” “She didn’t.” Oom’s voice was flat now. “One night, I told her.” Bam listened. “She looked at me and said she was sorry.” Oom swallowed. “She said she only saw me as a friend.” Bam looked down. “She rejected you.” “Yes.” “And you stayed friends?” “What else was I supposed to do?” Oom laughed quietly. “She was my best friend.” Bam looked at her. “And then you met me.” Oom didn’t answer. Bam waited. “Why did you court me?” Silence.

4️⃣ Oom looked back at Miu, then at everyone else, before leaving. ⸻ When they got home, Bam helped Oom change and brought her water. “Drink.” Oom took the glass. “Bossy.” “You’ll thank me tomorrow.” Oom drank. Bam sat beside her. “You okay?” “Mhm.” “You’ve been weird tonight.” Oom looked at her. “Have I?” “Yes.” “How?” Bam thought about it. “I don’t know. There’s just something weird about tonight.” Oom smiled tiredly. “Then maybe I’m just tired.” “Maybe.” Bam pulled the blanket over her. “Go to sleep.” Oom reached for her hand. “Stay.” Bam smiled. “I’m here.” Oom closed her eyes. Bam watched her for a while. She still couldn’t figure out what had gotten into her that night. But she didn’t push. ⸻ The days after that slowly changed. Not all at once. Just little things. Ling would sometimes invite Oom and Miu out to catch up. Then Orm would join. Sometimes it was just Oom and Miu. Then another invitation would come. And another. It wasn’t unusual. They had known each other for years, and Miu had just returned after being away for almost five years. Bam understood that. Still, the frequency started to wear on her. Oom would come home late. Sometimes she forgot to send a message. Sometimes dinner plans were canceled. Sometimes Bam would be sitting at home waiting for her, only to receive a text saying she was staying out a little longer. Sorry, baby. I’ll make it up to you. And Bam always answered the same way. It’s okay. Because what else was she supposed to say? She didn’t want to be the girlfriend who complained every time Oom spent time with her old friends. So she adjusted. She waited. She told herself it was fine. ⸻ Bam had spent the afternoon at her mother’s house. Oom was supposed to pick her up for dinner. When the car finally pulled up, Bam smiled as she opened the door. “Hi, baby.” Oom smiled at her. “Hi.” Bam got inside. “How’s your day?” “Nothing eventful.” Oom laughed. “You?” “My mom made me eat way too much.” “That sounds about right.” Bam laughed. For a few minutes, everything felt normal. The kind of normal she had been missing lately. Oom reached over and squeezed her hand.

8️⃣ Bam looked out the window. She didn’t cry anymore. She just sat there, feeling empty. When they finally reached her mother’s house, Oom stopped outside. Bam opened the door. Then paused. She looked back at Oom. “You forgot.” Oom frowned. “What?” Bam almost answered. But she stopped herself. “Nothing.” She gave her a small, tired smile. “Good night.” Oom didn’t answer. “Drive safe.” Bam closed the door. She stood there until the car disappeared. Then she wiped her face. Took a deep breath. And walked toward the house. She couldn’t let them see. Not tonight. She opened the door. “Surprise!” Bam froze. Her family stood in the living room. Her mother was holding a birthday cake, candles already glowing. Everyone started singing. “Happy birthday to you…” Bam stared at them. For a moment, she couldn’t move. Her mother smiled. “Come on, sweetheart. Make a wish.” Bam looked at the cake. Then at her family. And suddenly, she remembered. Her birthday. The dinner. The reservation. Oom had planned it. Oom had known. Oom had remembered. And somehow, somewhere between that phone call and their confrontation, Oom had completely forgotten. Bam’s mother smiled warmly. “Come on. Make a wish.” Bam forced a smile. “Okay.” She stepped closer. Everyone gathered around her. The candles flickered in front of her. “Make a good one,” her younger sibling teased. Bam let out a small laugh. “I’ll try.” She closed her eyes. For a moment, she didn’t know what to wish for. Then she blew out the candles. Everyone cheered. Her family hugged her. “Where’s Oom?” Bam’s smile faltered. “Something urgent came up.” Her mother nodded. “Oh. Okay.” Bam forced another smile. “It’s fine.” They took pictures. They gave her gifts. They made her laugh. And Bam tried. She really tried. She smiled. She laughed. She thanked everyone. She acted like nothing was wrong. But eventually, she couldn’t keep it together anymore. “I’ll be right back.” Her mother nodded. “Okay.” Bam went upstairs. She closed her bedroom door. The moment she was alone, she covered her mouth. A sob escaped anyway.

7️⃣ Silence. “Why did you ask me to be your girlfriend?” Nothing. “Why did you kiss me?” Oom looked away. “Why did you ask me to move in with you?” Oom finally spoke. “I thought she was never coming back.” Bam stared at her. “What?” “When you came into my life…” Oom paused. “I thought maybe I could finally move on.” Bam’s voice trembled. “So that’s what I was?” Oom said nothing. Bam wiped her tears. “A replacement?” “No.” “Then what?” Oom looked at her. “You were there.” Bam’s face fell. Oom continued. “You liked me.” Her voice was cold now. “You wanted me.” Bam stared at her. “You were convenient.” The word landed harder than anything else. Bam’s lips parted. “Convenient?” Oom looked away. “I didn’t mean—” “You did.” Bam shook her head. “You did mean it.” Oom stayed quiet. Bam laughed softly through her tears. “That’s why.” Oom looked at her. “Why what?” “That’s why you were so easy with me.” “What?” “You didn’t have to chase me.” Bam’s voice broke. “I already loved you.” Oom didn’t answer. “You knew I’d say yes.” Still nothing. “You knew I’d stay.” Oom stared ahead. “And when she came back…” Bam swallowed. “You didn’t need me anymore.” Oom’s jaw tightened. “That’s not what I said.” “You didn’t have to.” Bam looked down at her hands. “She came back, and suddenly everything changed.” “Bam—” “No.” She looked at Oom. “Don’t.” Oom sighed. “I never promised you forever.” Bam stared at her. “You asked me to move in with you.” “So?” Bam’s voice shook. “That means you wanted a future with me, right?” Oom didn’t answer. “You said you wanted to wake up beside me.” “I did.” “You said you wanted to come home and know I was there.” “I did.” “And you loved me?” Oom didn’t answer. Bam’s voice became almost a whisper. “Did you ever truly love me?” Oom looked at her. Bam waited. Her tears kept falling. She waited for something. Anything. An apology. A lie. Even a small reassurance. But Oom said nothing. Instead, she started the car. “This is getting nowhere.” Bam stared at her. Oom looked straight ahead. “I’ll drive you back to your mom’s.” The rest of the drive was silent.
